About the role:

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of women and children? As a Residential Support Worker, you’ll play a vital role in providing compassionate crisis support, advocacy, and everyday assistance to help individuals thrive in a supportive environment. You’ll empower women and children by offering emotional support, promoting social inclusion, and helping them build essential daily living skills—all while being part of a dedicated, supportive team.

We have several casual opportunities based in West Metro and Ballarat within our Community Services program. The position reports to the Team Leader, Refuge.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Certificate or diploma qualification in social work, community services, community development or a related field.
  • Commitment to McAuley values; Community, Hospitality, Compassion and Justice.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with women and children facing a range of complex challenges in relation to family violence, homelessness, health and mental health, drug and alcohol use, trauma, and marginalisation.
  • The ability to apply a flexible, inclusive, non-judgmental, and empowering approach to practice and service delivery.
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills including engagement and collaboration with a range of services and stakeholders.
  • Understanding of the principles of feminism, intersectionality and anti-oppression as both practice and organisational culture foundations.

You must have a:

  • Valid and current Driver’s Licence;
  • Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);
  • Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
  • Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check (for risk assessed / client facing roles). MacKillop can assist successful candidates with their application.
