We are seeking a Payroll Officer that is proactive, eager to learn and enjoys contributing to a collaborative environment to join our team.

  • Ongoing full-time position
  • PoV 4 - $92,332 - $104,762 per annum

The Parliamentary Administration Act 2005 and the Parliamentary Officers (Non-Executive Staff – Victoria) Single Enterprise Agreement will be revised during 2025 and is a nexus agreement to the Victorian Public Sector Enterprise Agreement. It is anticipated that the revised salary range for Grade 4 will be $95,102 to $107,905.

About the role
In conjunction with the broader Payroll team, the Payroll Officer will administer, prepare and calculate payroll processing activities to ensure timely production of the payroll for the Parliament of Victoria and parliamentary departments.

Key responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day payroll processing activities, ensuring timely and accurate data input of timesheets, leave, allowances, deductions etc.
  • Reviewing and validating issues raised in the time and attendance system, adjusting manager workflows where applicable.
  • Administer payroll on-costs, including superannuation contributions and payroll tax and display a sound understanding of legislative requirements to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, workplace agreements, relevant legislation, and compliance requirements, prior to processing.
  • Provide sound advice and information to stakeholders on payroll matters related to salaries, conditions of employment, annual performance based incremental adjustments, enterprise agreement related increases, relevant legislation, and internal policies.

About you
You have experience in the Payroll function and are invested in developing your knowledge of contemporary Payroll practices, alongside:

  • Demonstrated understanding of payroll and time and attendance systems and understanding in the administration of on-costs and legislative compliance requirements.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a collaborative team environment, characterised by the provision of excellent customer service, knowledge sharing, technical peer review and continuous improvement.
  • Well-developed written, communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on developing and maintaining successful relationships at all levels of the organisation whilst providing high quality, confidential client services.
  • Strong computer literacy skills with proven ability to undertake data analysis.
