The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW is currently looking for a passionate and savvy Manager to join the Wine, Dairy & Fine Food Team to help administer, manage and execute the Sydney Royal Wine Show, Cheese & Dairy Show, Fine Food Show, Beer & Cider Show, Distilled Spirits Show, President’s Medal, Talk & Taste, Grape, Grain & Graze Festival and associated events & programs.

About the Role…

The Sydney Royal Wine, Dairy and Fine Food Shows set the standard in Australian wine and food judging. Sydney Royal Competition judging areas comprise of Wine, Cheese & Dairy Produce, Aquaculture, Beer & Cider, Branded Meat, Professional Bakery, Smallgoods & Charcuterie, Oil & Olives, Pasta Speciality Food and Distilled Spirits.

The Sydney Royal team is currently looking for someone passionate about administration and events to become a Manager in this varied position.

This exciting and rare role will provide detailed administration and hands-on events management to the established Wine, Beer & Cider and Fine Food team, with the planning, execution and delivery of the events and programs.

This role will involve but not be limited to the following:

  • Manage the Sydney Royal Cheese & Dairy Produce Show, RAS President’s Medal, Grape, Grain & Graze Festival, Award functions and Talk & Taste
  • Liaise with the respective Committees, Chair of Judges and Industry Advisors regarding the Schedule, Competition Regulations, Logistics and On-Site delivery of the event
  • Provide Committee support to the Cheese & Dairy Produce and President’s Medal Committees
  • Prepare and manage two large income and expenditure budgets for the Sydney Royal Cheese & Dairy Produce Show and WDFF Events in consultation with management and the Committee ensuring that activities are closely monitored and carried out within budget
  • Prepare post-event reports documenting the projects and listing feedback and recommendations for the following year
  • In conjunction with other team members, manage events linked to the judging of the Sydney Royal Shows that may also be open to the public
  • Liaise with Marketing & PR regarding media releases, press coverage of the judging and marketing of associated events
  • Research and monitor industry developments concerning the food industry, as they relate to the Schedule and Regulations for the Sydney Royal Shows
  • Manage, develop and update content for the Sydney Royal website as well as reviewing the format to ensure ease-of-use and relevance for users
  • Liaise with Competition Administration and Systems team regarding Show reports, onsite administration of competitions and post show results

About you…

This role is fun and rewarding but requires great attention to detail and great organisational skills complimented with a strong interest and appreciation for the food, wine and agricultural industries.

To be successful in this role you would need to possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications and an interest in the wine and food industries preferred but not essential
  • Minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in administration and/or event planning
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and demonstrate flair in creating opportunities to benefit the section
  • Sound planning, problem solving and coordinating skills
  • Customer service and negotiation skills
  • Project and budget experience desirable
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and patience
  • Builds and maintains good relationships across various organisational levels
  • Positive “can do” attitude
  • Team player

The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) manages the Sydney Royal Easter Show, Sydney Royal competitions, the RAS Foundation, Australasian Animal Registry and the Sydney Showground. The RAS has a team of over 140 full-time staff – and an indispensable pool of casual staff - who work on the Easter Show, events at the Sydney Showground and other activities.
