Description:
This is an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow with extensive research expertise in biotechnology, engineering, membranes, and biology to join our research group at Edith Cowan University. The successful candidate will contribute to a project on transdermal insulin delivery for systems led by Dr Ana Vafadar and A/Prof Amir Razmjou. We are also interested in candidates with experience designing and conducting experiments, handling and monitoring animals, and collecting and analysing biological samples.Key responsibilities will include:
Design, fabricate, and optimise advanced transdermal delivery systems, including microneedle-based systems, iontophoretic, and electroporation.
Conduct ex vivo and in vitro studies involving rodents to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the developed systems.
Perform detailed characterisation and data analysis of biomaterials and transdermal systems.
Produce high-quality research outputs, publish in reputable outlets, and develop an emerging research profile.
Collaborate on research funding applications, joint projects, and commercialisation of intellectual property.
Mentor junior researchers and contribute to team collaborations.

Familiarity with ion-selective membranes and drug delivery systems.
Hands-on expertise with MOF-based materials and their biomedical applications.
Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment and mentor junior researchers.
Strong communication skills and experience preparing grant proposals.
Expertise in biology, biomaterials fabrication, membrane development, and advanced characterization techniques.
Proven experience in animal studies, including handling, dosing, and biological sample collection.
Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of a doctoral degree in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, biotechnology, nanotechnology, or a related field.
Benefits & Remuneration
This part-time, fixed-term position attracts remuneration of $81,614 to $90,691 per annum pro-rata, plus a 17% University superannuation contribution.
