Project Overview

Bechtel has been selected by Western Power to provideProject and Contract Management Services (PCMS) for the CEL-North program of works. Western Power is a Western Australian State Government owned corporation responsible for building, maintaining and operating an electricity network that connects 2.3 million customers to traditional and renewable energy sources. Bechtel will form part of an Integrated Delivery Team with Western Power to manage CEL-NORTH, a program of transmission and terminal station works in the South-West Interconnected System (SWIS) which covers an area of 300kms north of Perth and the Perth Metro area.

Job Summary

In this role, you will be an active participant in the administration of construction contracts, which will include the continual review, forecasting, and communication of progress and issues affecting performance of the contract. Your work will involve monitoring the Contractor’s compliance with the customer’s and the project requirements, including contract milestones, KPIs and other key criteria.

Major Responsibilities

  • Manages assigned contracts maintaining a continual review of progress and providing management with information regarding projected financial or technical difficulties.
  • Supports supervisor or others with the management of large and/or complex contracts in addition to assigned contracts.
  • Coordinates with other members of the project team on operational activities affecting contractual rights and obligations, subcontract performance, and other major matters.
  • Manage moderately complex contract changes by negotiating with Contractor personnel and obtaining settlement.
  • Prepares recommendations and secures approvals in accordance with established procedures.
  • Conforms and ensures contract execution with respect to variations and/or amendments.
  • Manages and ensures contract administration is done in compliance to Western Power's processes and procedures.
  • Prepares and organizes assigned meetings, such as progress meetings, for the purpose of monitoring and managing contractual obligations between the Customer and Contractor.
  • After reviewing plan and agenda with supervisor, conducts meeting and prepares and issues meeting notes delineating important statements, required actions and schedules
Education And Experience Requirements Level 1
  • Typically requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Level 2
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge And Skills
  • Experience with lump-sum fixed price contracts subject to rise and fall (variation management).
  • Knowledge of the WA Security of Payment Act is preferred.
  • Previous experience and ability to work as part of a client’s integrated team.
  • Can work independently and cross-functionally with minimal supervision.
