The opportunity

Due to an increase in demand from our existing client base, we have a unique opportunity for a Senior HazMat Consultant to join the team in our Perth (WA) office. The position will be responsible for inspections, surveying, management plans, register generation and maintenance, remediation support, monitoring, and clearance. Whilst predominantly dealing with Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs), the team has the capability of providing support across a wide range of other hazardous materials, including lead, PCBs and Synthetic Mineral Fibres.

Key responsibilities of the position include:

  • Provide day-to-day technical support to the team members.
  • Liaise and engage with clients to understand their needs/requirements and ensure that the team provides a high-quality service level.
  • Liaise effectively with clients to understand associated project costs to ensure clients receive deliverables on budget and on time.
  • Execute all technical report writing and performance reporting requirements within the scope of works and stipulated timeframes.
  • Manage the technical requirements of projects and coach Consultants to follow project protocol.
  • Provide robust, professional analytical skills, and peer reviews.
  • Undertake and complete detailed and complex risk assessments and scientific reports.
  • Oversee and conduct sampling in accordance with all relevant standards or guidance documents, health and safety regulatory requirements, specifically NATA/AS/NZ/OSHA standards, and conducting regulatory compliance audits where required.

To be successful in this position you will have:

  • Substantial industry experience in HazMat.
  • A Degree in a relevant field such as Engineering, Environment, or Science.
  • A strong scientific or engineering background in contaminated land and understanding of scientific and engineering principles.
  • IP401 - Identification of Asbestos in Bulk Samples (PLM).
  • IP402 – Surveying for ACM in Buildings.

Desired Qualifications:

  • M(W)504 – Asbestos and Other Fibres.
  • IP404 – Air Monitoring, Clearance Inspections.
