About the role
The Asset Area Manager supports the management of asset maintenance and service requirements across multiple campuses. This role is responsible for planned and unplanned asset maintenance and asset service requirements. Working under limited supervision, you will provide technical support and contribute to improved efficiencies in Asset Management services across TAFE SA.
Key Outcomes
- Deliver efficient and effective planned and unplanned asset maintenance and asset service requirements including asset and plant certification and registrations for a nominated region or project(s).
- Implement Asset compliance Assurance policies and procedures including Risk management, Lifecycle modelling and auditing including salvage/disposal and Contractor Management planning.
- Develop and implement asset registers and ongoing asset condition auditing.
- Provide primary contact for a nominated region or project for Asset Management including monitoring and reporting on the performance of services provided under the Across Government Facilities Management Arrangements (AGFMA)
- Maintain and report on Asset Management budgets including the review of existing arrangements and interrogation of historic spend to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Provide technical support and contribute to the improvement and increased efficiencies in Asset Management services across TAFE SA.
- Provide expert advice and assistance to assist delivery workgroups in their requirements for the preventative maintenance and breakdown of plant/equipment used in training delivery.
- Continuously improve the cost effectiveness of maintenance strategies through assessment of preventative maintenance change requests and works management data.
Key Selection Criteria
- Proven ability to work effectively and efficiently with limited supervision / direction and sustain high-level performance, determine priorities, be highly flexible, organise workloads and meet demanding work deadlines in a complex work environment.
- High level oral, written and interpersonal communication skills that foster sound working relationships with staff and a range of stakeholders in a climate of continuing change.
- Communicate, liaise, consult and negotiate in a highly effective, flexible and influential manner, including managing conflict with tact and diplomacy, and developing complex documents and reports for a range of stakeholders.
- Sound knowledge of contract specifications, documentation and procedures and relevant government policies.
- Experience in the planning and management of planned and unplanned asset maintenance and asset service programs, including asset and plant certification and registrations, asset registers and ongoing asset condition auditing.
- Experience in the implementation of an Asset Compliance Assurance program including Risk management, Lifecycle modelling and auditing including salvage/disposal and Contractor Management planning.
- Demonstrate ethical behaviour and the ability to work effectively within the public sector in line with legislative compliance and policy.
- Detailed understanding of Work, Health and Safety Act 2012 as it applies to occupiers of buildings and owners of plant and experience in the management requirements of the maintenance and servicing of building, plant and equipment.
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal Culture and Community.
Special Conditions
The successful applicant is required to demonstrate having a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) prior to being employed. Applicants who do not hold a WWCC will need to apply at Department of Human Services (DHS).
- Out of hours work will be required
- Some intra/interstate travel and overnight absences may be required.
- Incumbent will be required to participate in the department's Performance Development Program.
