About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Senior Social Worker – DonateLife SA to manage and deliver the National DonateLife Family Support Service (NDFSS) in South Australia. As part of a specialist multidisciplinary team, you will provide advanced social work, counselling, and bereavement support to families making organ and tissue donation decisions. You will also contribute to professional education, ensuring nationally consistent support services and resources are available to families throughout their donation journey.
In this role, you will manage a clinical caseload while providing specialist end-of-life and bereavement advice, clinical supervision to staff and students, and facilitating donor family and transplant recipient correspondence. As a key member of the National Family Support Advisory Group (FSAG) , you will help shape the development and implementation of the NDFSS and contribute to education activities within the DonateLife Network. Your expertise in quality improvement inclusive of the End of Life Follow Up Service and research projects will support best practice and optimise service delivery outcomes.
About You
We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Senior Social Worker – DonateLife SA with advanced clinical expertise in grief, bereavement support, and family-centred care. To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Advanced clinical judgement and counselling skills – Extensive experience in providing grief and bereavement support in acute care settings, using evidence-based interventions to support donor families.
- Strong leadership and collaboration abilities – Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams, foster a positive workplace culture, and provide education and supervision to staff and students.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills – Proven ability to build trust, communicate sensitively with families, staff, and external agencies, and promote inclusive and culturally safe practices.
- Commitment to continuous improvement – Experience in service improvement initiatives, professional development, and applying best-practice approaches to enhance bereavement and family support services.
