Preventive Health SA is the South Australian Government's health promotion agency, leading a dedicated program of prevention work to support the health and wellbeing of all South Australians. Through the delivery and implementation of evidence-based policy and programs, Preventive Health SA is working to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequities for the South Australian community.
Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Executive Director, Epidemiology and Research will oversee multiple key programs which support effective data collection and analysis, health research translation and reporting from a range of population-based systems, and provide high-level, timely and accurate research and data-driven advice and information to members of Preventive Health SA's Executive Leadership Team and additional key stakeholders across Government and the wider community.
Promoting and providing effective leadership, vision and strategic programs relevant to the Epidemiology and Research Division, you will ensure successful planning and application of prevention and health promotion initiatives across the State. Guiding the development and implementation of complex and critical initiatives, you will support the creation of strategies and plans that influence appropriate legislation and state-wide programs and government policies which contribute towards achieving the strategic priorities established by the South Australian Government and implemented across Preventive Health SA.
Identifying and investigating public health issues and relevant interventions, you will develop and manage health information systems to address public health issues and analyse health status patterns, trends and outcomes to support both public health research in the State and Preventive Health SA's vision to improve the health and wellbeing outcomes of South Australians.
We are seeking applications from those with exceptional skills in leading and influencing with a strategic lens; experience engaging and establishing stakeholder relationships across a variety of organisations; key health policy development and implementation skills; and comprehensive experience and knowledge in public health data and research. Qualifications and experience in epidemiology is desirable, however not essential - this role may appeal to senior leaders from a range of public and population health data and research disciplines.
Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check and appropriate immunisation requirements.
