Position Summary:
The Sales Engineer I works directly with Account Executives to evaluate technical needs and develop sales strategies with the customers. The Sales Engineer I will provide demos to customers of core products and propose designs and validations. Acting as a technical account leader, the Sales Engineer will help the customer understand proof of concept/proof of technology definition and management. Does this sound like you?
Key Responsibilities:
- Present and demonstrate products during pre-sales discussions, generally supporting a single sales team (ex. Supplier Sales)
- Analyze customer needs and recommend products and/or services as part of a simple
- or straightforward sales cycle in a single-product deal. Deals will usually include just two members of the supply chain (ex. retailer and supplier)
- Create bid proposals and suggest additional sales opportunities
- Maintain extensive knowledge of complex aspects of products and systems for small
- Accounting/ERP systems in deals (ex. Quickbooks)
- Answer client questions on product function and usage and solve sales support problems
- Provide technical consultations and knowledge transfer with sales staff/trainers/product support
Location:
This hybrid position (onsite 2-3 days per week) is located in Melbourne.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree plus at least 6 months of customer facing supply chain or technical product-related experience; or a combination of equivalent education and relevant experience
- Innovate and iterate in real time when presented with complex problems
- Exhibit dynamic teamwork to successfully deploy sales campaigns
- Clear, concise, and confident communicator (verbal, non-verbal, written), including effectively altering vocal tone/inflection, listening, and writing relevant and engaging content
- Demonstrative behaviors around integrity, curiosity, engagement, self-driven initiative, collaboration, relationship building, customer engagement/support, and leadership expectations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and/or Business
- Prior CPG, Retail, Supply Chain or SPS Commerce experience
- Proven competence with Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and a CRM, preferably Salesforce.com
