Organisational Profile

GEGAC is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation based in Bairnsdale Victoria. Consisting of about 160 staff, GEGAC is a Not-for-Profit organisation that delivers holistic services in the areas of Primary Health, Social Services, Elders & Disability and Early Childhood Education.

GEGAC advocates for the self-determination of the Aboriginal community by prioritising services that enhance social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing, with culture at the heart of everything we do.

Position Purpose

Working within the Strategy and Compliance Division and reporting to the Quality and Compliance Manager. The Quality, Safety and Risk Officer will contribute to the team’s responsibility of promoting safety, assessing and mitigating organisation and operational risk and embedding a culture of continuous quality improvement across all areas of service delivery within the organisation. Further, the role will support embedding Aboriginal cultural values across the organisations Quality Governance framework and systems to honour our culture while driving excellence in quality and risk management.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated capability to meet the key responsibilities of this position.
  • Knowledge and understanding of risk management processes.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safety related regulations.
  • Clear ability to undertake research, analysis and comprehend complex documents, write reports and undertake a variety of administrative processes.
  • Has the necessary experience and confidence to lead working groups and deliver training.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with staff across all levels. That such skill involves excellent communication, highly effective staff engagement capability.
  • A team orientated person who has a passion and commitment for embedding Aboriginal cultural ways into organisations quality systems and processes.

Qualifications and Registrations Requirement (Essential or Desirable).

Driver licence DESIRABLE

Strong background in Quality and Risk Management ESSENTIAL

Experience with Child Safe/Safeguarding ESSENTIAL

Working with Children Check and Fit2Work Police Check ESSENTIAL

A person of Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander background DESIRABLE

Proof of COVID-19 vaccinated to align with GEGAC requirements ESSENTIAL
