We are looking for a Secondary Numeracy Content Specialist to join our Essential Assessment (EA) team - our Primary Numeracy and Literacy assessment platform loved by nearly 3000 schools across Australia.

As part of our Essential Assessment Content team, you will collaborate closely with our Assessment Delivery Lead, other Numeracy content specialists and in-house publishing team to write and edit outstanding Numeracy assessment materials.

Your deep subject and assessment expertise, passion for Numeracy education, and sharp analytical skills will be invaluable as we strive to perfect our top-tier Numeracy Assessment products for Australian schools.

What you will do

  • Develop, edit and refine Secondary (Level 9-10) Numeracy assessment content for Essential Assessment’s products, in line with our rigorous content quality standards and the strategic delivery roadmap
  • Participate in robust editorial processes, including peer reviews and feedback cycles, to maintain and enhance content quality
  • Analyse and map curriculum documents to Essential Assessment’s Numeracy content, ensuring strong alignment and identifying opportunities for further development
  • Review and enhance existing online and paper-based Numeracy resources, recommending improvements to strengthen the overall product offering.

About you

  • Experience in writing mathematics assessments (digital and/or paper-based) with a strong and proven foundation in item-writing methodology and assessment best practices, ideally in publishing and/or edtech environments
  • Background in teaching Secondary Mathematics in Australia, supported by relevant teaching qualifications
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to accurately map, interpret and deconstruct the progressive sequence of Mathematics curriculum points
  • Creative thinking with the ability to generate original and engaging question types from diverse ideas and contexts
  • Open to feedback, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong time management skills, ability to meet deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Deep understanding of and genuine interest in Maths pedagogy and best teaching practices
  • Proficiency in technology, particularly Microsoft Office and Google Suite
