About the DepartmentThe department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division
The Senior Secondary Pathways Reform Taskforce was established in 2021 to lead a generational reform agenda in response to the Review into Vocational and Applied Learning Pathways in Senior Secondary Schooling .
These reforms will collectively support all Victorian secondary students to pursue high-quality and valued vocational pathways aligned to their strengths and interests and to finish schooling with the skills and capabilities they need for success in further education, training, work, and life.
About the Role
The Policy Advisor supports the design and delivery of policy reforms and programs, as well as stakeholder engagement activities to improve access and the quality of VET for school students.
Priority policy work across the VET Delivered to School Students (VDSS) branch includes:
* the redesign of the funding and delivery models VET and the operationalisation of a quality framework
* strengthening local partnerships and knowledge of VDSS through implementing a clear role of TAFEs, embedding the role of VET clusters, and developing the VDSS Lifecycle and IT solution
* policy analysis to address specific access gaps in VDSS and the development of business cases for investment.
The role will be expected to work flexibly across teams and on different areas of the VDSS reforms.

The successful candidate should be comfortable working in a dynamic and fast paced environment with changing priorities and work focus. The candidate will have strong conceptual and analytical capabilities, able to work with a range of complex stakeholders and be able to problem solve issues.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
A bachelor's degree in a relevant area is desirable but not required.
