The Sleep Cottage is a paediatric medical practice and boutique sleep laboratory specialised in studying and treating children and adolescents aged 0-18. We have been in Miranda since mid-2016, and over this time we helped thousands of children from all over NSW.
We are currently in need of an experienced Medical Secretary for our joyful paediatric and sleep clinic in Miranda, NSW. The role will be responsible for managing administrative tasks within a medical practice, including scheduling patient appointments, maintaining medical records, handling phone calls, greeting patients, preparing necessary documentation, and coordinating referrals, all while adhering to strict confidentiality standards and medical practice guidelines. The following are the essential skills required:

Patient appointment management
Scheduling appointments, rescheduling as needed, and confirming patient details.

Medical record maintenance
Accurately updating patient records with clinical information, test results, and other relevant documentation.

Patient check-in/check-out
Verifying patient information, collecting necessary documents, and processing payments at the time of service.

Telephone management
Answering incoming calls and taking messages.

Referral coordination
Processing patient referrals, including obtaining necessary paperwork.

Billing
Entering billing codes and patient demographics into our electronic health record system Gentu.

Administrative tasks
Preparing correspondence, and managing filing systems.

Essential skills and qualifications
Strong proficiency in medical terminology
Medical secretary/receptionist experience is essential
Excellent typing and data entry skills
Exceptional time management, punctuality and multi-tasking skills
Exceptional organizational skills
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Desirable knowledge of medical practice management software (Gentu)
Adhere to the Code of Conduct established by the practice
Ensure that the medical clinic facilities are clean and tidy at all times
Scanning and updating all patient-related correspondence and results
Valid working with children check (Required)
