Description:

The Engagement Officer role is a key position within the Eastern NSW Regional Network, specifically the Northern River area. They support and deliver the day-to-day operational activities of a team to deliver high quality services and policy implementation.
They are responsible for working directly with local service providers, delivering on local implementation plans and working as part of a small team in Lismore. They may undertake management or oversight of small projects for the team or, work with larger projects for the branch. The Engagement Officer works in a team with a supportive culture and works in an environment where staff are valued and committed to producing quality outcomes.
They contribute to business improvement strategies, seeking to identify best practice. They coach and share expertise and technical knowledge with team members, peers and more broadly across the agency. The Engagement Officer develops and maintains complex internal and external relationships with key NIAA stakeholders, providing appropriate advice and managing the resolution of issues or complaints. The Engagement Officer promotes a healthy and safe workplace environment, and models ethical behavior in accordance with the APS Code of Conduct and APS Values.
The key duties of the position include
This role includes the following duties and is expected to be conducted with a broad degree self-direction:
  • contribute to a culture that aligns with NIAA values and fosters high performing teams who are dedicated to achieving quality program outcomes
  • work in a team approach to achieve the branches outcomes and the NIAA's broader strategic directions for its stakeholders, providers and partners
  • plan and coordinate team workflow to ensure even distribution and management of priorities
  • undertake planning and implementation of small-scale projects for the team or branch
  • effectively monitor and report on team and project performance and workload. Implement remedial action as required to ensure performance indicators are met and quality is maintained
  • undertake reviews using internal quality assurance and continuous improvement processes
  • identify opportunities to enhance team performance in an environment of collaboration, continuous improvement and change
  • provide technical and operational guidance and direction to the team and analyse and respond to high level technical enquiries and complaints with some complexity
  • apply sound judgement and make evidence-based decisions aligned to the organisational operating environment and legislative frameworks
  • guide others to identify and mitigate foreseeable risks
  • chair and facilitate forums within the team and branch, using approved NIAA governance processes
  • represent the branch and contribute to building productive relationships and inclusive networks through collaboration with providers, partners and stakeholders, to resolve issues and realise agreed outcomes.
