The Role
In this two year contract, you will provide expert analysis on global affairs, while supporting news coverage for major global events in the field and across all video, audio and digital platforms. In this vital role, you will present live content, conduct live and long-form interviews and guide panel discussions on the latest events that will attract and resonate with a wide and diverse audience.
The Job
- Analyse and report on topical global news, events, trends, and developments for all platforms with depth, immediacy, and accuracy.
- Provide deep expert analysis of global politics that set the national agenda across broadcast platforms.
- Research, write and present high-quality global affairs analysis that is accurate, timely and innovative for all platforms.
- Present and write content that ensures outstanding journalistic and editorial judgement for all platforms.
- Develop original angles on major stories of global significance through a robust contact network.

About You
You will have exceptional experience as a journalist, be a trusted expert on Global Affairs and have the ability to face an overwhelming and challenging news cycle in a moment of increasing turmoil worldwide.
You'll have:
- An extensive and expert knowledge of and interest in global events, including diplomatic, political, economic, social, and cultural issues and events.
- The ability to write fast turnaround analysis for the ABC website, synthesising complex global events for the audience in a timely fashion
- Specialist skills in generating stories and providing reporting that illuminates events and issues and compels and engages the audience across a variety of platforms.
- Expert ability to identify and build strong audiences together with a highly creative use of material that effectively realises the potential of the relevant platform.
- Outstanding understanding of the latest in online and TV digital newsgathering technology and the ability to use it to the best ABC advantage, including in the field.
