The Role
The ABC is looking for a Producer/Reporter to report impactful stories about Indigenous Australians of national interest, maintaining high standards of original content across all ABC platforms. You will analyse issues and news events to drive discussion, provide context, and engage audiences.
The Job
- Cover complex Indigenous Australian stories across all platforms, making them accessible to broad audiences.
- Produce accurate, timely, and innovative content for the Indigenous Affairs round on multiple platforms.
- Contribute to editorial planning, pitch stories, and collaborate on major events coverage.
- Analyse and explain for audiences on all platforms complex policies and issues.
- Engage with First Nations stakeholders to identify original stories and develop key relationships.
- Provide editorial direction, when required assist in staff development, and maintain high journalistic standards while staying informed on current events and industry trends.

About You
You'll have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in reporting.
- Significant experience with excellent research skills and editorial judgment.
- Ability to create compelling content across platforms, explaining complex news issues.
- Strong networks in First Nations communities with a deep understanding of social, economic, and cultural issues.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively, produce high-impact content, and adhere to ABC editorial standards.
