Burpengary State Secondary College is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Department - Humanities to lead and enhance our Humanities faculty.
This role presents an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to shape curriculum, drive student success, and build a culture of high expectations and academic excellence.
This is a temporary full-time position for a period of 12 months, to commence 22 April 2025 until 19 April 2026, unless otherwise determined.

Burpengary State Secondary College is located in Burpengary, a suburb in the Moreton Bay Region of Queensland. Our large (12.5 hectares) modern campus is approximately 20 minutes north of Brisbane, close to beautiful Moreton Bay, Freshwater National Park and the University of the Sunshine Coast, Petrie Campus. About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to shape the Humanities curriculum, enhance student learning outcomes, and foster a culture of academic excellence within the faculty, making a lasting impact on student engagement and achievement.
As the Head of Department, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited, to the following:
- Lead the curriculum focus and school department in developing and committing to a shared vision focused on quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Engage in lifelong learning and professional development.
- Build partnerships with students, parents, agencies, and community groups.
- Be future-oriented and strategic.
- Understand legislation and policies impacting on the school department, students and staff.
