Applications are invited for a skilled professional to join our team and lead student engagement initiatives.

Crestmead State School is seeking a dynamic Head of Department - Student Engagement, to lead the implementation of Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL), collaborate with external agencies to support students, and drive initiatives aimed at enhancing student engagement. This is a temporary position until 12 December 2025, unless otherwise determined.

Your responsibilities will include leading individual and group initiatives, while contributing to a positive learning culture aligned with Version 9 of the Australian Curriculum.

This is a temporary full-time position from 22 April 2025 until 12 December 2025, with the possibility of extension.

Crestmead State School is conveniently located 25kms south of Brisbane's CBD, with 1,400 students from Prep to Year 6. The area is known for its suburban, family-oriented atmosphere, with affordable housing options and a strong sense of community and cultural diversity.

The leadership team consists of 6 Deputy Principals, 2 HOD-Curriculum, 2 Guidance Officers, 2 Coaches, 1 Social worker, a Business Manager, and the Principal.

About the Role

You will play a key role in supporting the school's improvement agenda, promoting quality teaching, and building strong relationships with staff, students, and parents.

As the Head of Department - Student Engagement, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Lead the curriculum focus and school department in developing and committing to a shared vision focused on quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Engage in lifelong learning and professional development.
  • Build partnerships with students, parents, agencies, and community groups.
  • Be future-oriented and strategic.
  • Understand legislation and policies impacting on the school department, students and staff.
