Nitmiluk Tours is a part of Jawoyn Association Aboriginal Corporation, a 100% wholly owned and operated Indigenous Tourism Operation within Nitmiluk National Park, and more broadly the region of Katherine, NT. We are the exclusive provider for touring the breathtaking Nitmiluk Gorge, located approximately 320km South of Darwin Northern Territory, Australia. From campgrounds to tented accommodation, self-contained cabins, and the boutique Cicada Lodge, Nitmiluk Tours has an accommodation option for everyone. Your new role:
Commencing from the end of January onward, we are looking for River Tour Guides to operate tours on the river ensuring the safety and well-being of customers at all times whilst providing them with relevant and up-to-date information regarding Nitmiluk Gorge and National Park. This role is also responsible for ensuring all vessels are clean, fully stocked and in a functioning condition to uphold safety standards as well as the company’s public image.
Some key points include:
Operate tours as per company policies as a Tour Guide and Skipper, and perform “boat returns” when required.
You will need to be confident in providing quality interpretation to large groups (training & information provided)
Provide assistance and support to other staff to ensure customer satisfaction.
Other River Support duties as directed by the River Supervisor or Operations Manager, to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the river operations.
Maintain cleanliness of all vessels at all times.
What you will need to succeed:
Essential:
- Experience in operating marine vessels
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- First Aid Certificate (can obtain once employed)
- Ochre Card (can obtain once employed)
- Self-declaration of medical fitness (obtained once employed)
- Near coastal eye-sight test (obtained once employed)
Desirable:
- Previous experience working in a similar role
- Certificate level or above in Hospitality or Tourism.
- Coxswain or Master Class V permit
- Responsible Service of Alcohol
