About our client
Our client is a well-established steel fabrication company with a reliable client base. Operating alongside three other businesses to offer a comprehensive manufacturing solution under one roof, they service industries such as mining, plant infrastructure, engineering, equipment manufacturing and agriculture.
With an expanding client base and plans for future growth, we are seeking a driven Business Development Manager to spearhead sales initiatives and contribute to the company's long-term success.
About the opportunity
This newly created role offers an exciting opportunity to take full ownership of the sales function, drive revenue growth, and help establish a structured sales process from the ground up.
In this role, you will:
  • Own the full sales cycle, from prospecting to closing deals, focusing on all applicable industrial sectors
  • Increasing annual sales by targeting existing and new clients
  • Respond to tenders and manage RFQs, enhancing conversion rates
  • Travel as needed to expand market reach
  • Help develop and implement structured sales procedures and pipeline management
Reporting to the senior leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping the company’s future sales strategies and integrating business development efforts. With a limited sales structure currently in place, this role provides the freedom to build a high-performing function that supports long-term company expansion.
About you
We are seeking a proactive and strategic sales leader with a background in steel, product manufacturing or engineering sales. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving sales growth in small businesses and implementing scalable sales processes.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
  • Business development and sales experience in the steel, fabrication, or engineering sector
  • Strong understanding of structural steel, plastic, industrial product manufacturing systems and various materials
  • Ability to build and execute a sales strategy
  • Experience managing RFQs, estimations, and sales pipeline development
  • CRM implementation and data-driven sales management skills
  • Willingness to undergo a medical and drug & alcohol test for employment
