Role and Responsibilities:

  • This role is to support the Australian Business Unit's WAN/LAN Network. The Client is looking for a Network Engineer who is eager to learn and work collaboratively with direct colleagues and also with other Teams from different disciplines.
  • Occasional site travel will be required as the Client is going through a major switch refresh. Other refresh projects are also in pipeline.
  • Complete assigned tasks and network projects, including network connections, equipment upgrades, network implementation and configurations as directed.
  • Manage own workload to achieve results to agreed standards and within agreed time frames; provide regular progress reports.
  • Maintain effective communication with colleagues and stakeholders; escalate issues and risks promptly to facilitate speedy resolution and maintain agreed timelines for completion; undertake knowledge transfer sessions to team members and IT personnel, as required, throughout the project.
  • Provide prompt network support to other Teams as required.
  • Resolve BAU Incidents and Tasks.

Required Skills:

  • CCNP level qualification and/or relevant industry experience
  • Experience (3-5 years) and knowledge of data communications / troubleshooting / configuration and refresh of Cisco networking equipment, from switches, routers and wireless in a large corporate environment.
  • Ability to develop detailed design documentation, including testing and implementation plans.
  • Experience with ServiceNow, including raising detailed change requests.
  • Palo Alto Firewall experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of SolarWinds Monitoring and being able to use the application desirable.
  • Oil & Gas or Mining experience desirable.
  • HUET certified or willing to do the training.

Non Technical skills:

  • Ability to independently manage your own work load and projects to agreed priorities and timelines with a structured and organised approach.
  • Familiarity with working in time tracking and project reporting environments along with knowledge of Project Management and Project Management Methodologies.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills; able to communicate complex network technology concepts to non-technical staff; ability to present and communicate confidently with service providers and clients; proven experience in handover processes to system support groups.
  • .Proof of Vaccination mandatory to be able to travel to site.
