About the role
We are currently seeking a Specialist Fleet Delivery to join our Dampier Salt Limited (DSL) Asset Planning team. As an integral member of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of mobile equipment to our operations. This role provides support across all aspects of mobile fleet management, including implementation of whole-of-life asset strategies, equipment specification optimisation, repair strategies, capital portfolio management, and project management of new equipment acquisitions and major rebuilds.
This role is integral to supporting the mobile asset strategy for Dampier Salt operations, ensuring optimal fleet performance while preserving personnel safety and minimising production risks. You will manage and oversee project handovers, ensuring they align with business objectives and are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification.
As part of the wider Rio Tinto Iron Ore operations, Dampier Salt has two operations located at Dampier and Port Hedland and is headquartered in Perth, Western Australia. Through a sustainable process of solar evaporation of sea water, we reliably deliver high quality salt essential for making thousands of products used in everyday life. DSL is the world’s largest exporter of seaborne salt, with capacity to produce approximately 7 million tonnes every year.
Reporting to the Superintendent of Asset Planning, you will:

Manage and oversee the delivery of mobile asset projects on behalf of operational sites, ensuring outcomes are timely and compliant with specifications and budget.

Develop and define effective repair and replacement criteria, along with specifications, for the mobile fleet.

Support and coordinate the allocation and movement of mobile equipment between sites, ensuring maintenance strategies align with relocation requirements.

Conduct regular reviews of emerging technologies from mobile equipment manufacturers and suppliers, providing recommendations for potential application within the Dampier Salt fleet.

Identify, evaluate, and recommend mobile equipment improvements and project initiatives.

Monitor and assess the condition of the mobile fleet across the business, providing recommendations for input into the annual capital and operating planning cycles.

Ensure mobile equipment projects are developed and implemented consistently across sites in alignment with operational needs and the long-term strategic objectives of the business.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

A tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a trade background as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic.

A minimum of 10 years' experience working with Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME).

Demonstrated experience in managing the effective delivery of mobile equipment projects.

Exceptional relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Advanced problem-solving skills

Strong knowledge of the work management process.

A proactive approach and a commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive team culture.

A valid C Class driver’s licence.

Where you will be working
This position will be based in Perth at our Central Park office, working Monday to Friday. This role will include some site travel to our two Dampier Salt Operations, but with the flexibility to work around your own personal & family priorities.
