The Role
Consultant (Environmental and Social); Environmental Scientist or Environmental Engineer
We are looking for a passionate environmental scientist/engineer with 3+ years’ experience in Environmental and Social management to join our growing ESG team. Our successful candidate will have a strong understanding of Australian regulations, awareness of local and international ESG practices trends impacting the mining industry (i.e. legislative and regulatory changes, developing Good International Industry Practices, climate resilience, changes in supply chain expectations, evolving human rights considerations, etc.), as well as experience in risk assessment and environmental permitting process.

You will primarily be involved in completing environmental and social risk assessments, permitting compliance checks, ESG practices conformance assessments, data collection, collation, analysis, and reporting related to various aspects of mining and infrastructure projects, where you will be supported by Senior and Principal Consultants.

This role is based out of our Perth office.
Our successful candidate will have:
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related discipline
- Professional experience (3+ years) in the mining industry. Field work / mine site experience is preferred
- Experience in environmental permitting and/or environmental management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to contribute to high quality technical reports in English. Candidates may be asked to provide an example of their technical writing as part of the recruitment process.
- Strong understanding of Australian and state environmental and permitting regulations and guidelines
- Demonstrate knowledge of, and ability to use, various risk assessments methods and tools
- Competency in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills
- Willingness to travel (domestic/international and possibly to remote locations)
- Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or existing Work Visa with more than 12 months validity
- GIS mapping, modelling, and coding skills would be an advantage
