About The Client:Newco Mills is a joint venture between two well established Western Australian Agribusiness players within the milling and livestock industries. Newco is in the process of establishing a commercial feed mill at Bullsbrook, Western Australia with operations due to commence in September 2025.
Anchored by the two Joint Venture partners Thompson and Redwood (T&R) and Westpork, Newco Mills is ideally situated to provide wholesome, high-quality animal feed to a broad range of customers, from small farms through to major integrators.
T&R’s current operations in Upper Swan shall be transitioned into the new feed mill. T&R have a strong presence in both the bag and bulk feed markets, servicing the horse and broader agricultural industries with premium well balanced feed solutions. Westpork is Western Australia’s largest pork producer with farms located throughout the southwest, from Moora in the north to Mount Barker in the south.
About the Role:
The Feed Mill Manager will provide strategic operational oversight for all production at the Bullsbrook facility. In this role, you will hold the feed mill accountable to standards of safety, quality, operational effectiveness, and financial performance. This will include the following:
- Assisting and driving the establishment and development of policies, procedures and systems across the core functions of environment, finance, operations, procurement, quality and safety
- Overseeing all operations from multiple processes and shifts to ensure teams are following appropriate policies and procedures
- Partnering with environment, health and safety and food safety, quality, and regulatory teams, to identify the most effective approach for implementing and monitoring corporate safety policies and procedures
- Overseeing production outcomes, quantity, and quality to ensure customer and food safety requirements are within specifications
- Driving the maintenance and engineering function, to provide input into the development, implementation, and accountability of the plant maintenance program and strategic capital investments
- Ensuring ongoing review of key performance indicators with focus on continuous improvements in site operational targets
- Leading and developing a team - coaching, and making decisions related to talent management, hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions
- Liaising with key customers to ensure continued positive outcomes
- Reporting to the Board on a regular basis, on the business’s performance
To be successful in this key leadership position, candidates will be required to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated leadership experience gained in a milling (or similar) manufacturing facility
- Financial (P+ L / Budgets) management experience
- Familiarity with logistics, scheduling and QA functions
- Proven planning and execution skills
- Experience in operational management reporting
- Start-up business and/or process establishment and implementation experience - considered ideal
