Position Description :
We are seeking an experienced Telecommunications Engineering Technician to support lab management activities for the Enterprise Network Modernisation Program (ENMP). This role involves managing lab activities, including configuration, development, installation, and verification for the lab based in Melbourne.
Responsibilities :
- Support the engineering team by managing and championing the test process for all lab-related activities.
- Maintain and troubleshoot RF systems, electronic systems, and communication equipment.
- Diagnose hardware issues on enterprise servers, disk arrays, network equipment, radios, monitors, and computers.
- Troubleshoot failures using multiple OS platforms, including Windows and Linux.
- Recommend solutions to problems and support system engineers, system integrators, and V&V team with lab operations and configurations.
- Install and manage software builds on multiple baselines by following detailed procedures.
- Perform asset, software, and equipment audits on customer and company-owned lab property.
- Maintain a neat, tidy, and clean laboratory environment.
- Manage test assets and request calibration/repair services.
- Maintain an active record of troubleshooting and repairs using a ticket system.
- Gather, analyse, and report failure data trends.
- Manage and safeguard assets, including government-furnished property.
- Process new hardware by tagging and capturing asset information into a database.
- Perform responsibilities in accordance with established procedures.
- Resolve issues independently and manage defects identified in the lab, tracking, monitoring, and closing out defects.
- Liaise with multiple stakeholders to maintain records and resolve issues.
- Highly developed job knowledge/skills.
- Experience in a multi-disciplined engineering environment.
- Experience working on large networked systems.
- Experience with Voice Communications Systems, Radios, Telephony (VoIP, analog, or digital).
- CCNA or equivalent Cisco certification is highly desirable.
- Experience managing software applications deployed as virtual machines in a VMWARE environment is highly desirable.
- Experience with Validation Test Bed management and sustainment.
- Undergraduate Diploma in electronics, communications and networking systems, or computer sciences, with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to lift 15 kilograms.
