We provide free digital mental health support services and run a variety of mental health awareness, stigma reduction, research, and advocacy programs. We support diverse workforce segments, including those living with complex mental health issues, and the broader community. We are 100+ people with a volunteer work force of circa 60 people.

About the role

SANE’s Telehealth and Online Mental Health Counsellors play a key role providing a range of support options for people affected by complex mental health issues including their family, friends, and carers.

The Telehealth and Online Mental Health Counsellor provides individual psychosocial support that is trauma informed, person centred, recovery oriented and culturally competent. This role will deliver telephone based multi session support via the SANE Guided Service.

This role is to be based in Melbourne or Sydney. Hybrid work is available following your initial training and induction period – allowing employees flexibility in their work, but we do require onsite work as well.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Work with people impacted by complex mental health issues, complex trauma and psychological distress, including families, friends and carers of people with complex mental health issues.
  • Provide telephone based multi-session counselling guided by individualised Recovery Plans for participants of SANE’s Guided Recovery Service.
  • Provide psychosocial supports to promote mental health recovery, social connection and improved quality of life
  • Consistently display and promote high level commitment, integrity, and diligence in all aspects of work and decision-making
  • Follow organisational safety, quality & risk policies, and procedures
  • Maintain a safe working environment for yourself, your colleagues, and members of the public.

About You

  • Registration with one of the following professional bodies: AHPRA-Psychology, PACFA–full registration, ACA-minimum level 2, Mental Health Social Worker AASW/AMHSW–Full membership.
  • Tertiary qualification in psychology, social work, counselling.
  • A minimum of two years relevant mental health work experience post qualification.
