Your new role

Are you passionate about providing a nurturing and supportive environment for children? Do you have experience and expertise in working with individuals affected by substance abuse? If so, this could be the opportunity you have been looking for.

As an Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD) Childcare Worker, you will provide a safe, caring, and engaging environment for children whose parent or guardian is undergoing substance abuse treatment. You will also develop and implement age-appropriate activities that promote the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of children, while maintaining a supportive and non-judgmental approach when interacting with children and their families.

Your skills and experience

You will hold a Certificate III in Children’s Services (or equivalent) as well as a Certificate IV in AOD or Mental Health (or willingness to complete within 24 months of employment).

You will also bring with you:

  • Demonstrated experience working with families affected by alcohol and other drug use
  • Previous experience in supporting children (0-2 years) to participate in age-appropriate activities
  • A valid driver’s licence
  • Current first aid certificate
