We’re looking for an experienced Quality Assurance Officer.

The Quality Assurance Officer facilitates appropriate risk and quality management system review techniques and is responsible for maintaining and implementing quality assurance policies, conducting tests and inspections, identifying production, process, or product issues, and presenting solutions ensuring high quality standards are achieved.

This is a full-time position, reports to the Quality Assurance Manager and is located at our Altona facility.

What you will do:

  • Provide a responsive, courteous and helpful advisory service to customers and the business, recommend procedures, standards and equipment to maintain product quality that meet customer and regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to ensuring plant compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) requirements including inward assessment of all the raw materials with approved supplier program, batch testing, sample retention and production processes to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with quality standards
  • Conduct organoleptic evaluation of products taste, smell, sight, and touch, confirm product compliance and alignment with both company, industry standards and consumer preferences.
  • Maintain detailed logs, all quality management systems, Certificates of Analysis (COA), Certificates of Conformance (COC), Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and product specifications and continuously improve information management systems.
  • Provide training and instruction to ensure production operators follow safe work and hygiene practices, standard quality assurance procedures and conform to product and process specifications.
  • Lead inspections, internal and external audits, sampling and complaint handling, determine whether product meets customer specification, quality standards and regulatory compliance. Identify deficiencies, investigate quality issues, initiate corrective actions for non-conformance reports (NCR) and improvements as required.
  • Contribute to specialised projects, process improvement and other initiatives including pest control, research and product development, testing solutions and enhanced reporting requirements.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of specific health, safety and wellbeing hazard and risk management strategies, cooperate with any directions and procedures, report all injuries, illness, near misses and hazards and complete health and wellbeing training initiatives
  • Communicate effectively, share information and work cooperatively with team members to contribute to the achievement of individual, team and organisational goals and customer experience.

What we are looking for:

You have:

  • a relevant tertiary qualification Science, Quality, Food Technology or related discipline
  • HACCP accreditation (desirable).
  • minimum of 3 years’ experience in a HACCP or similar role in the food manufacturing industry.
  • solid working knowledge of HACCP, ISO 9001, Food Safety and GMP systems.
  • experience with Microsoft Office Programs, Microsoft Dynamics, Safety Auditor (iAuditor) and Coles Fusion.
