Our Sydney Roads business has an opportunity for a passionate Business Group Leader to drive our multi-disciplinary team into the future. With a healthy portfolio of Key Clients and opportunities for growth, our team is delivering projects to build a resilient transport network, connecting people and freight to each other.

Our ideal candidate for this role will be a skilled and experienced leader with an ability to balance the technical delivery of a variety of Civil and Roads projects with the operational requirements associated with running a well-established, successful team within a large organisation.
You will have strong industry connections and be able to develop and grow GHD’s presence and market share. You must have a commitment to further enhancing strong technical authority with a client-led mindset.
Working with our Operations Manager, multi-disciplinary leadership group and broader internal network, this pivotal position is your opportunity to lead a passionate, technically renowned team within a global consultancy and will see you :
- Lead, manage and grow our Roads Group
- Manage Business Group performance, people, and resources.
- Develop and achieve our business plan objectives and targets aligned with GHD’s Make It Real strategy.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with diverse sector clients and across GHD.
- Build a strong business development and winning work culture, with effective positioning and pursuit of large and strategic opportunities and expanding GHD's presence and market share.
- Lead the technical and commercial direction on significant projects, identifying and creating business opportunities and effectively managing risks.
- Develop and mentor a talented team of engineers and technical specialists.
- Drive a safety culture throughout the business and across our projects.
What would you bring to the team?
- Engaging and motivating people skills backed by strategic problem-solving capabilities.
- A relevant Engineering degree supported by solid relevant industry and consulting experience in the design/delivery Transport infrastructure.
- Commercially astute with strong project delivery experience, including providing support to Project Directors and Project Managers to deliver outstanding client experiences coupled with both technical and commercial performance on projects.
- Passionately innovative, with a drive to continuously evolve the way we work to deliver successful outcomes for our clients.
- High level market awareness and business development skills with a strong focus on client engagement and ideally a well-established network of relationships across potential clients.
- You are a hardworking, supportive and motivating leader able to get the best out of their team and comfortable with mentoring and technical supervisory responsibilities.
- Strong communication and people management skills.
