Saint Ignatius’ College Riverview is a Catholic boys’ school in the Jesuit tradition. Located in Lane Cove, Sydney, Cammeraigal Country, this leading independent school delivers a holistic education to both day and boarding students from Years 5 to 12.
The College is inviting applications for a part-time, ongoing (0.6 FTE) Library Assistant commencing as soon as possible. The Library Assistant will work three days per week, Wednesday – Friday (7:30 am – 3:30 pm) stand-down.
The Library Assistant is a member of the Christopher Brennan Library, which is inspired at all times by the highest Ignatian ideals of Companionship and Team.
The Library Assistant’s responsibility is to support the librarians in all of their roles and, under their direction, to carry out a complete range of support functions to ensure the smooth running of the library. This includes assisting in preparing and organising resources and materials for circulation, assisting users in finding information and contributing to the effective and efficient use of the Christopher Brennan Library and its resources.
This is an ideal role for a friendly, helpful and detailed oriented Library Assistant. The successful candidate will join a friendly and supportive team with staff benefits such as subsidised lunch (during term time) and free access to an onsite gym on offer.
The successful applicant will have:
- Previous experience working in a library setting
- A strong knowledge or interest in young adult literature and the ability to recommend engaging books to teenagers based on their interests and reading preferences
- Experience using a library management system like Concord Infiniti, or demonstrate a willingness to quickly learn and adapt to new systems
- Highly proficient ICT skills, willingness to learn about new ICT tools
- Ability to promote the library through creative and informative displays
- A strong customer service focus, with the ability to develop positive relationships
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Positive attitude toward work and a desire to learn and develop
- Ability to respectfully and effectively interact with peers and community members
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work well under pressure
- An understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of the College
- a current Working with Children Check (or be prepared to obtain one prior to commencement) and be committed to safeguarding and promoting the safety, welfare and well-being of children and young people
