- Permanent opportunity to manage BT's Business Controls & Monitoring (BCM) Governance & Oversight Team
- Full-time role, Sydney based and hybrid working
- Spearhead a team of risk governance experts to elevate risk management and reporting frameworks
The BCM Governance and Oversight team at BT plays a crucial role in ensuring the BT's risk management aligns with both Group and BT strategy. The BCM team is responsible for developing and maintaining the Risk Management Framework, which integrates systems, structures, policies, processes, and people to manage risks effectively across the organisation.
How will I help?
In this role, you will manage the Risk Governance and Oversight team consistent with Group and BT strategy, the Board Risk Appetite Statement, Group and BT Policies and applicable laws and regulations. Reporting to the Head of BCM and Regulatory Affairs, you will be responsible for:
- Leading a team of risk governance and analytics specialists, enhancing risk governance and reporting frameworks
- Partnering with board directors and executive leadership to establish and monitor risk management frameworks, ensuring alignment with organisation’s risk tolerance and regulatory obligations
- Supporting the CEO and board directors in relation to compliance with the Financial Accountability Regime (FAR) including monitoring and oversight of operational plan and reasonable steps process
- Leading the work on preparation and presentation of quarterly risk and compliance reports to the board highlighting emerging risks, control effectiveness, and regulatory developments, contributing to informed decision-making at board and senior management level
- Responsible for the governance and coordination of the Management Risk Committee and Emerging Risk Forum.
- Leading the development and delivery of key governance and risk assessment activities (e.g. Risk Management Framework Self-Assessment, Risk Culture Self-Assessment, Risk Management Declaration)
- Overseeing the coordination of internal and external audit engagements

Here, you'll have the opportunity to re-group and connect with key stakeholders, including the BT Leadership Team, the Trustee and Funds Board, the BT & Group Second Line Risk Teams, internal and external audit teams, and the Business and Wealth Divisional Hub Team.

What do I need?
You will need to demonstrate strong people management skills, effectively presenting to senior stakeholders and managing your team, as well as strong people management experience. A solid background in Line 1 risk and/or compliance within the wealth management industry is essential ideally within the Platforms and Superannuation environment.. Your team will handle board and risk committee reporting, so exceptional written and verbal communication skills are crucial.
Further advantageous qualities and experience includes:
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills and deadline focussed
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding and experience of value chain mapping and obligations management frameworks
- Deep understanding and experience of FAR obligations/reasonable steps framework will be highly desirable
- Understanding of CPS230 obligations from perspective of an RSE
- Experience dealing with Regulators, in particular ASIC and APRA
- Ability to work in a regularly changing environment and adapt quickly
- Proficient in Excel and capable of extracting and managing reporting from a GRC system
- Ability to think strategically and create SMART action plans
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills
- Ability to focus on continuous improvement and risk uplift journey
