In this key position, you will provide expert guidance and administrative leadership to the University’s Animal Ethics Committees (AECs), ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks and ethical best practices. You’ll work closely with researchers, committee members, and regulatory bodies, offering critical advice on ethical approvals, governance, and compliance processes.

Key responsibilities will include :

  • Provide administrative leadership and support to the University’s Animal Ethics Committees (AECs), ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and ethical standards.

  • Advise researchers, committee members, and stakeholders on animal ethics processes, policy interpretation, and governance frameworks.

  • Oversee the review and processing of animal ethics applications, amendments, and reports, ensuring timely and accurate approvals.

  • Coordinate reporting and regulatory liaison activities to uphold the University’s commitments to ethical research and compliance.

About You
  • A degree in a relevant field with at least four years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong administrative and management background, preferably within a university or research organisation.

  • Knowledge of governance and regulatory frameworks for animal ethics in research and teaching in Australia.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and negotiate with diverse stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret policy in complex regulatory environments.

  • Experience in providing secretariat support to committees and coordinating compliance-driven processes.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including right to work in Australia and a criminal check.
