Description:
As an AO4 Intelligence Officer, you will be positioned within the Gold Coast District Intelligence Unit (GCDIU) contributing to a policing response through provision of accurate, timely, and reliable information. You will maintain a focus on crime, safety, and other strategic matters as aligned to the QPS vision ‘A safer and more resilient Queensland’.The AO4 Intelligence Officer supports the GCDIU with the following:
- Scanning, analysing, and evaluating Intelligence submissions, Crime Stopper files;
- assisting the Gold Coast District (GCD) with tactical and strategic duties;
- supporting the district in planned and unplanned operations by enhancing prevention and disruption strategies;
- enhancing the identification and understanding of current and emerging threats, crime trends;
- completing intelligence products;
- analysis of QPS databases;
- preparation of briefings on intelligence matters and more.
Operational requirements, including significant incident response/s, may on occasion require deployment to alternate work locations within the Gold Coast District (i.e., from Pimpama to Coolangatta).
Your Key Accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:
- Support the QPS Strategic Plan through the provision of intelligence services to Command and Regions in the assessment of problems places, cases and issues.
- Provide analytical advice and recommendations to QPS officers in relation to specific investigations and operations.
- Plan and prepare intelligence assessments in relation to crime and other community safety matters utilising accepted intelligence processes.
- Establish and maintain effective networks within the QPS and with external partners and stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of effective work practices.
Role Requirements:
- The successful applicant/s will be required to perform duty within any Group/Unit within the surrounding area where Gold Coast District Intel conducts business.
- The successful applicant/s may be required to undergo psychometric assessment, prior to appointment.
- Applicants are advised that whilst performing the duties of the position they may be exposed to material (written, visual and audio) of a graphic and sensitive nature.
- Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance to the minimal level of Negative Vetting Level 1.
- The successful applicant/s must undertake intelligence training delivered by the Queensland Police Service in line with current policy.
