This is an exciting opportunity to join our program during a period of rapid growth! We’re thrilled to expand our passionate and skilled team of professionals who provide phone counselling to carers dealing with anxiety, stress, and depression while caring for loved ones with disabilities, medical conditions, mental illness, or age-related fragility among others. In this role you will be able to utilise your warm and caring personality and calm and competent organisation skills, to support carers nationwide at point of intake to the Carer Gateway National Counselling Service.
What you’ll be doing…
The overarching purpose of the Carer Gateway is to support carers to build their capacity to sustain their caring role. The Carer Gateway National Counselling Service provides a crucial platform for carers across Australia to engage with credentialled, experienced & compassionate counsellors to reduce stress and isolation and improve wellbeing. The multifactorial impact of caring experiences on both mental and physical health are often very complex and unique to each caring situation. Our purpose is to support carers earlier in a proactive way by fostering wellbeing and sustainability in their caring role.
In this current service expansion and we are looking for Intake Workers to support the Carer Gateway National Counselling Service by providing phone intake and assessment of the eligibility of carers across Australia. The Intake Worker Carer Gateway National Counselling Service role is key in supporting, engaging, containing, providing information as well as referral options to callers at their first contact with our service. This role is also responsible for gathering sensitive personal information and allocating the carer to a counsellor via our client record management system (CRM) as well as playing a key role in supporting the administration of our quality assurance and management processes.
This is an excellent opportunity to work in a very positive and professional team of experienced counsellors and to utilise your valuable skills and gain more experience to support carers nationwide.
You will have the support and collaboration of an Intake Team Lead as well as of an experienced counsellor throughout your shift.
What you will need…
- Completion of relevant tertiary qualifications in counselling, community services, mental health or social work
- Provide person centred professional therapy and consistence to carers nationally
- Demonstrated skills in providing professional telephone intake services, including assessing immediate risks and providing crisis support to clients
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a digital based services in high paced environment (call centre) is essential
- Maintaining a focus on Safety and Wellbeing of carers and their families by ensuring appropriate responses in crisis situations and therefore a demonstrated knowledge of child protection, domestic violence best practice and suicide protocols are also required
- High level experience working with multiple systems including electronic customer record management system(s) (CRM) or similar and Microsoft applications
- Experience in working with individuals caring for people with a disability, dementia and/ or mental health concerns will be highly regarded
