The Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a Strategic Projects Officer – Emissions Coordinator to be part of our South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

The primary purpose of the Strategic Projects Officer- Emissions Coordinator is to support the Research Director, Crop Science in the management, development and co-design, delivery, monitoring, reporting and evaluation of new and existing strategic initiatives in the greenhouse gas emissions intensity area.

The Strategic Projects Officer- Emissions Coordinator is part of the SARDI Crop Sciences division and will support the development of new research priorities across all Crop Science programs but will also have a strategic function across divisions through engagement with Livestock Sciences in particular.

The Strategic Projects Officer- Emissions Coordinator works closely with PIRSA and more broadly across primary industry sectors, to identify key industry challenges and provide advice on strategic issues facing our key agricultural sectors as they progress toward a net-zero 2050 agenda.

The role will contribute to the development of new research opportunities and co-designed projects that address productivity, innovation and capability development. The Strategic Projects Officer - Emissions Coordinator will be required to develop a strong working relationship with the Crop Sciences and Livestock Sciences leadership group to ensure the relevance and success of the projects undertaken.

Special Conditions

  • Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.
  • Opportunity up to March 2030.
  • Full time, 37.5 hours per week.


Requirements

  • Possession of a current driver’s license and willingness to drive.
  • Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.
  • Australian residency or current works permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).
  • You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations when applying for a role.
  • The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.

Qualifications

  • Essential: A relevant Bachelors degree in Science or equivalent. Experience in net zero government policy and delivery of research related to carbon farming, lowering emissions intensity or farmer outreach in these areas.

Remuneration
ASO7 - $108,109 min - $116,864 max per annum, plus superannuation
