Your new role:
Based in the Leliyn (Edith Falls) Kiosk, this is a central tourism area within Nitmiluk National Park. The role is hands-on and vital to the efficient running of the operations. The role is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Kiosk and executing an approved maintenance schedule within the campground in conjunction with the Maintenance Officer and Parks and Wildlife NT.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage stock levels, order supplies, and minimise wastage.
- Preparation of food and drinks offered for public sale.
- Handle cash and EFTPOS transactions accurately.
- Uphold food safety and hygiene standards.
- Kiosk facility coordination to maintain a safe and well-presented work environment representing the Jawoyn People and Nitmiluk National Park.
- Food & Drink Services to be maintained via the Kiosk to meet public expectations including development of services to maximise sales and allow for business growth.
- Tourism Sales to promote local products and engagement with Jawoyn Traditional Owners and Indigenous culture in general.
- Financial management of operations including adhering to approved budgets, daily sales, cost of goods sold, purchases and stock levels.
- Cultural Tourism development and product implementation including cultural tours as approved by management.
- Campground Booking assistance for members of the public through approved online booking systems managed by Parks & Wildlife.
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills including a demonstrated ability to provide advice to, consult with, and effectively facilitate communication amongst Aboriginal people, the scientific community, government agencies and other external bodies.
- Demonstrated effective human resource and team leadership experience, including facilitating change and being an effective team leader for rostering, attendance, training and engagement with the public within approved budgets.
- Liaise and maintain strong business relationships with key stakeholders and project partners in a professional, accurate and informative fashion.
- Manage and respond to all incoming enquiries in a timely and accurate fashion.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Previous experience in a supervisory role within a café, kiosk, or hospitality environment
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail
- Customer-focused with a positive and proactive attitude
- Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems and cash handling
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
- Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays, and peak period.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with First Nations Peoples in a remote setting.
- Knowledge and experience in working with First Nations people, understanding cultural obligations. Kinship relationships. current national and local issues that limit their work attendance or hinderance to obtain professional growth.
