Introducing Western Plains Correctional Centre (Western Plains)

Western Plains is a new state-of-the-art, maximum-security correctional facility in the Barwon South West region. The staff here are dedicated to helping people in our care build the skills and self-confidence needed to make positive contributions to the community.

What you will do

As a disability and complex needs practitioner at Western Plains, you will conduct assessments, run life skills programs and create positive support plans for people with cognitive impairments.

You will:

  • Facilitate life skills and adapted offence-related programs.
  • Develop, implement and monitor positive support plans in collaboration with disability support workers.
  • Lead transition planning and coordinate with external service providers.
  • Supervise and support a team of prisoner peer mentors.
  • Work with staff, case managers and external agencies to ensure effective disability support and release planning.

Qualifications

  • A current Victorian driver's licence is required.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or experience in the field of allied health is highly desirable.
  • Experience within the disability sector is desirable.
