About Cadia
Our Cadia Valley Operation in New South Wales is situated about 25 kilometers from Orange and 250 kilometers west of Sydney. Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold-rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The operation includes the Cadia East Mine which is globally renowned for its use of block caving, a large-scale underground mining method.
We acknowledge the Wiradjuri people, traditional custodians of the land surrounding Cadia, and proudly run an Indigenous Buddy Program to enrich the workplace experience our Indigenous employees. Who we're looking for
Newmont Laboratory Services Orange (NLSO) exists primarily to provide high quality, timely analytical services to Cadia. You will be working with industry leaders in a safe and dynamic environment that values diversity, integrity, and career growth.
We're currently on the lookout for a passionate individual to become a valued, high performing member of our laboratory team. This role is responsible for conducting laboratory tests, preparing samples, and ensuring quality control to support our mining operations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laboratory procedures, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and efficiency, however, we encourage applicants from any background or experience level to apply.
The primary responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Under the guidance of the Laboratory Supervisor, you'll be responsible for preparing and analysing geological and metallurgical samples, ensuring adherence to safety, production, turnaround, and quality objectives.Perform duties including sample preparation, fire assay, wet chemistry, instrumentation and concentrate analysis to meet quality and turnaround expectations.Perform necessary pre-starts and daily/weekly maintenance on equipment/instruments to ensure they remain in working order.Contribute to laboratory safety and production improvement initiatives.Maintain detailed records of test results and report findings to relevant departments.Follow strict safety and environmental protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
The Successful Candidate Will Demonstrate The Following
Previous experience in a mining, mineral processing, or industrial laboratory environment is desirable.Proficiency in data recording and reporting software.Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.A commitment to workplace health, safety, and environmental complianceProficiency in time management to consistently achieve high-quality outcomes.Capability to multitask and adjust to shifting priorities.
Please note: This role will be located in the city of Orange, NSW, supporting our Cadia mine site. The current roster for this role is 7D/7X - 12hr days.
