About Cadia
Our Cadia Valley Operation in New South Wales is situated about 25 kilometers from Orange and 250 kilometers west of Sydney. Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold-rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The operation includes the Cadia East Mine which is globally renowned for its use of block caving, a large-scale underground mining method.

Job description:
Who are we looking for
Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, you will be accountable for operational activities within Newmont Laboratory Services Orange, including the application of advanced laboratory techniques in wet chemistry, sample preparation, fire assay and analytical instrumentation.
In addition, provide high quality, timely analytical services to Newmont's Cadia operation following safe, cost efficient and innovative processes. The Laboratory also provides analytical services to all Newmont sites using a range of techniques to analyse ores, concentrates and tailings.
You will support the production and sales teams with advanced instrument operation, equipment calibration, QAQC and project management as well as any other general operational tasks at the request of the Laboratory Supervisor.
Key deliverables of the role include:
· Build and maintain excellent working relationships within the Laboratory team as well as with external business partners, suppliers and laboratory customers
· Lead and support innovation in the laboratory with improvement ideas, experimental design and analytical testing
· The application of advanced laboratory techniques in wet chemistry, sample preparation, and fire assay.
· Undertake advanced instrument operation of AAS, ICPOES, ICPMS, Leco and XRF
· Quality control, data review and reporting of results to clients.
· Proactive problem solving in all areas of the laboratory while being productive and ensuring delivery of results in expected timeframes
Our ideal candidate will have laboratory experience, a strong drive and focus and has a desire to foster a long-term career in mining.
You will also have
· At least 2-5 Years laboratory experience preferred
· Mining industry experience preferred
· Attention to detail, effective stakeholder communication and ability to plan and work autonomously
· Strong technical report writing and statistical analysis experience
· Chemistry related qualification highly regarded
