This is a rare opportunity to build a strong safety culture and drive real change in an organisation that values people, purpose, and impact.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Manager, you’ll play a key role in shaping and embedding strong safety frameworks within a diverse and high-impact environment. Reporting to the GM of People & Culture, this role is focused on building on existing safety initiatives, ensuring compliance, and developing risk management strategies that are both practical and scalable.
With a clear roadmap already in place, there is strong leadership buy-in for safety improvements, and the organisation is moving towards a more structured and proactive safety culture. You’ll also manage and mentor one direct report, the Injury Management Advisor, with the potential to grow the team as safety initiatives develop.
This role requires some travel, including travel to regional locations a few times per year, ensuring safety is consistently prioritised across all operations.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a tangible impact, put your own stamp on the role, and drive meaningful change in workplace safety!
THE DUTIES
  • Lead WHS transformation, embedding a proactive safety culture across diverse teams.
  • Develop and implement WHS policies, frameworks, and risk management strategies.
  • Influence and educate leaders to integrate safety into daily operations.
  • Manage and mentor the Injury Management Advisor, with potential to grow the team.
  • Oversee risk assessments and audits, ensuring compliance across multiple sites.
  • Support teams in managing psychosocial risks in high-pressure roles.
  • Investigate incidents and implement practical, long-term solutions.
  • Travel to key sites to support WHS implementation and engagement.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
We're seeking a proactive and hands-on safety leader who can build strong WHS foundations, embed compliance, and drive a culture shift across diverse teams. This role requires resilience, resourcefulness, and the ability to influence at all levels—from frontline staff to senior leadership. You'll need to balance strategic thinking with practical execution, ensuring safety isn’t just a policy but an integrated part of daily operations in a complex, fast-moving environment.
  • 8+ years of experience in WHS, Risk Management, or Safety Leadership.
  • Strong background in compliance, frameworks, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to drive change in a developing safety culture.
  • Resilience & resourcefulness—this role requires initiative and influence.
  • Experience working in diverse operational environments (e.g., healthcare, community services, not-for-profit, retail, or similar sectors).
  • WHS tertiary qualification and a current driver’s license.
BENEFITS
  • 4 days in office and 1 day WFH with flexibility around work hours
  • Travel reimbursements – regional visits 2x per year, metro site visits quarterly.
