Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for achieving project excellence? Join Sunwater as Construction Program Manager where you’ll play a vital role in managing the safe, on time and on budget delivery of high-quality project outcomes within the Capital Projects Program. The role is responsible for all aspects of project delivery of multiple capital projects nominally valued up to $100 million. You will partner with the Program Director – Capital Projects and a team of Project Managers to ensure project delivery exceeds project and stakeholder objectives.
As a Construction Program Manager at Sunwater, you will:
- Manage the Capital Projects Program, which consists of multiple projects designed to improve Sunwater assets within regional Queensland, including:
- performance monitoring and reporting,
- cost and schedule control and forecasting
- risk and opportunity management
- procurement and contract management
- Provide mentoring and guidance to project delivery teams, specifically in the area of site-based construction, including:
- constructability methodology input into design and planning to ensure safe and efficient delivery
- construction cost review and input into design and planning,
- identification and selection of subcontractors and suppliers
- Oversight of all regional, site-based construction works
We are seeking a talented individual with a proven track record in both planning (developing delivery methodologies schedules and cost estimates) and on-site management of construction on large projects. You will hold tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Equivalent and have a minimum of 20 years’ overall experience in the construction industry, ideally on water projects, including 2-5 years in a senior role. You will also bring:
- Contract Management and Administration: Experience in managing construction contracts, including negotiation, preferably as a client / superintendent, managing / head contractor, and/or subcontractor.
- Commercial Acumen: Proven ability to forecast accurately, including the ability to manage commercial risk through the use of risk and opportunity registers and associated contingency.
- Interpersonal skills: Experience working in a collaborative environment with multiple stakeholders and enabling functions, with the ability to prevent disputes, or resolve them satisfactorily if they arise.in resolving design and contractual conflicts and satisfactorily negotiate appropriate outcomes.
- Scheduling skills: Ability to create and accurately review project schedules, identifying schedule risk and appropriate mitigation measures.
- Communication skills: Excellent communication skills, specifically with report writing and delivering presentations, to a variety of audiences, including team members, peers and executive.
