Injury Management SpecialistSpinal Life Australia is a non-profit organisation that provides expert knowledge, specialist therapies and supports tailored for people with spinal cord injuries and other physical disabilities. We're the largest provider of support services to people living with spinal cord injury in Australia.
Our opportunity:
We are currently seeking an Injury Management Specialist who will take responsibility for managing Spinal Life Australia’s workers compensation claims, injury management & prevention. This is a 6-month max term full-time role based at our Head Office at Woolloongabba.
Role responsibilities:
- Oversee worker’s compensation claims including liaising with and submitting claims and other documents to Workcover and other relevant parties within legislative timeframes and reviewing the claim to assist early finalisation.
- Co-ordinate Incident Reporting, Injury Management and Return to Work programs for injured employees.
- Liaise with injured workers and their managers with a focus on support and planning for their return to work.
- Recommend and Implement strategies to reduce workers compensation claims and costs.
- Assist recruitment in mitigating risk through implementing appropriate pre-employment assessments and strategies.
- Assist in employee wellbeing activities and strategies.
- Maintain the WHS management system and contributes to the development, implementation, monitoring, and review of safety initiatives that ensures a healthy & safe environment for all.
- Develop, identify and/or deliver injury prevention and management training to new staff and refresher training to existing staff.
- A current return to work co-ordinator certification.
- Experience in providing leadership, guidance, and advice on injury management to effect improvements in health, safety, and wellbeing performances.
- Extensive experience in managing complex claims with positive outcomes.
- Ability to build rapport with varying stakeholders including employees, managers, Workcover and health professionals.
- Previous experience working in the non-profit sector and/or providing services for the people funded under the National Disability Insurance Scheme is desirable.
- Experience in or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of QLD & WA Workers compensation scheme.
- Knowledge of WHS compliance, legislation, and guidelines
- Hold or willing to obtain a NDIS Workers Screening & Blue Card
- Complete NDIS Worker Orientation Module (Certificate given on Completion!)
