QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.
About The Role
You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by providing a high level of leadership in the delivery of project management consulting services.
Duties And Skills Involved
- Coordinating and managing all aspects of building project implementation activities including pre-design, design, documentation, contract administration and post construction activities and assisting in taking responsibility for the quality and suitability of the building product delivered to the client.
- Coordinating the activities of other project staff, external consultants, building contractors, managers and other business units in the achievement of project objectives.
- Providing a high level of contract coordination in respect to traditional and non-traditional contract systems.
- Ensuring all projects are managed to achieve the client's scope, time, cost, cash-flow, and quality requirements and QBuild profitability targets. This involves interacting with clients on a day-to-day basis.
- Ensuring individual project team members (external or QBuild Staff) involved in the provision of pre- design, documentation, contract administration, and post construction services to clients are engaged, communicated with and coordinated effectively.
- Leading negotiations with consultants, local authorities, internal and departmental stakeholders, the client and contractors to ensure value for money solutions are identified and delivered. Utilising experience and professional knowledge to add value to discussions and ensure appropriate stakeholder management is undertaken.
- Controlling variances by generating exception reports on time and cost aspects of projects management and performing project audits to establish project team performance as appropriate.
- Assisting the Principal Project Leader/Senior Project Manager to determine attainable fees for services under your control and where necessary, generate the approval for the billing of clients.
- Ensuring all quality assurance procedures within the work area are followed. Mentoring a team of Project Managers and other staff.
- Proactively manage the work performance and personal conduct of your staff.
