About the role
Recycling Plastics Australia is seeking an experienced detail-oriented QC Chemist to join our dynamic team in Kilburn, SA. As a Chemist, you will play a pivotal role in driving our commitment to innovative recycling solutions. This is a full-time position based on-site in Kilburn. You will be reporting to Technical Manager, and you will work closely with the production and R&D teams to maintain quality standards, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine QC testing and analysis on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
- Conduct external and internal audits, driving compliance across all manufacturing processes.
- Perform polymer characterisation and analysis using various analytical techniques (e.g. DSC, TGA, etc.).
- Maintain accurate records of test results and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Utilise Excel and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for data entry, analysis, and reporting.
- Assist in the development and validation of new testing methods and procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality-related issues and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Prepare and present quality reports to management and stakeholders.
- Work closely with production teams to address quality issues.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems is desired.
- Previous experience in a QC/QA role, preferably in the recycling (PE/PP/PET) or other polymer industry. Experience with statistical analysis is highly regarded.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with LIMS or other data management systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to quality improvement.
- Maintaining detailed records and preparing comprehensive reports on all laboratory activities and findings.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
