Description:
Hutt St Centre (HSC) is a place of connection and support, where people facing homelessness are empowered to rebuild their lives, rediscover their identities and reconnect.
How you will make a difference
Join our team as a Frontline Client Services Officer (Wellbeing Centre Officer) and be the first point of contact for clients, creating a welcoming and supportive environment. You will respond to clients’ primary needs, including setting up and maintaining the tea and coffee station, managing the takeaway food table, clearing and cleaning tables and accurately entering data. You will also provide information about the Wellbeing Centre's facilities, Hutt St Centre services and external support programs.
Working closely with staff, volunteers, and visiting services, you will help support individuals at risk or experiencing homelessness. This is a permanent part-time role with 3 to 4 shifts per week, working between Monday and Saturday. The Wellbeing Centre operates Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm, and on Saturdays and public holidays from 6:30 am to 9:30 am.
If you are a team player with a passion for helping others, we’d love to hear from you!
About you
You will have experience working in a similar environment with clients facing complex needs, including those who may exhibit challenging behaviours. Strong communication skills are essential for building rapport with clients along with the resilience to de-escalate situations as needed.
This role requires a proactive approach, quick thinking and the ability to assess the environment to anticipate potential issues that may arise. A solid understanding of confidentiality principles and efficient data entry skills are important. While experience in the homelessness sector is preferred, it is not essential.
You must have or be willing to obtain both a satisfactory National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check.
