Description:
Over the next couple of years, the national fibre network is being bolstered, adding 20,000 new route kilometres. The ambition is to improve the size, reach and bandwidth of the already extensive optical fibre network.
Lucas TCS' involvement in this project will be to undertake the civil works to support the installation of the fibre optic cable. This will include running the fibre optic cable using fibre-laying dozers, in regional areas within SA and WA.
This is a unique project and will suit people capable of living in remote areas off grid, with limited amenities and without some of the conveniences afforded in ‘normal’ life.
The plant experience required for this project is very specific, we are looking for highly skilled all-rounder Plant Operators, who are proactive, practical and will work as part of a team effectively.
Plant experience required, at least two of -
- Dozer
- Grader
- Skid Steer
- HR License is highly regarded
- Must be happy to labour & assist throughout project a needed
Please note: there is a substantial amount of walking involved on some days
Position Requirements
- Must reside within South Australia - Please note, interstate applicants will not be considered at this stage.
- Construction Industry White Card (classroom)
- Current driver's license, full C minimum, HR preferred
- Relevant plant tickets & experience
- Able to meet the standards of a Category 3 Rail Medical, including drug test.
Accommodation
This project will be based remotely off grid, site personnel will be accommodated in caravans. The caravans are brand new and include standard comforts - large fridge and kitchen, bathroom (toilet, shower and vanity), double bed, small dining table, washing machine and air conditioning. You will be responsible for keeping the caravan tidy and well maintained.
Meals
You will be responsible for cooking your own meals. A nominated allowance for meals each day will be payable.
Communication
Communications will be available via satellite internet.
Travel
Due to the changing work fronts as the project progresses, travel to and from site will vary and will include air and road travel. Therefore, only applicants who reside in Adelaide or nearby regional areas can be considered.
