Job Summary:



Responsible for the provision of ongoing underwriting support to the Construction & Engineering team, as well as underwriting and ongoing servicing of small to medium size Construction & Engineering accounts in Australia and New Zealand, while progressing towards becoming an experienced member of the team with broader responsibilities.



As part of a small start-up team, you will be a motivated self-starter, results driven, and customer focused. You will be well organized, able to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team when needed.


Job Duties:


· Support the Construction & Engineering team in the handling of medium to large accounts including delegated authority business, in line with established standards, procedures and guidance provided.


· Administrate policies, endorsements and risk bordereaux, assist with credit control, maintenance of underwriting files, portfolio monitoring and related tasks.


· Proactively seek and participate in training opportunities to broaden underwriting and engineering technical skillset on an ongoing basis.


· Underwrite small to medium size and low complexity construction projects and annual contract works renewals, including the analysis of various aspects of Construction & Engineering risks, such as natural hazards, geotechnical, construction methodology, construction schedules and contracts, contractor risk, policy wordings etc., with training and guidance provided by experienced team members.


· Maintain contact with intermediaries and customers including negotiations or pricing and coverage, while managing interactions in an efficient, courteous and timely manner.


· Proactively identify opportunities to improve business processes with a focus on efficiency and outcomes.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:


· Minimum 1 to 2 years relevant experience in the construction industry and/or insurance industry (technical lines) or in risk engineering.


· Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or a construction related discipline.


· Self-motivated and well organized; results driven and a good team player.


· Possess strong relationship building, interpersonal and communication skills.


· Attention to detail and proficiency in using PC applications are essential.
