Overview:

  • 1x Full-time, ongoing position

  • Salary Academic Level C ($135,814 -$156,608 p.a.) or Level D ($163,538 -$180,166 p.a.) + 17% Superannuation

  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus but may be required to travel and deliver (fly in fly out) teaching at other campuses offshore

About the Role

As a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor , you will significantly contribute to the teaching, research, and engagement efforts of the School within the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Specifically, you will:

  • Conduct teaching activities across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including offshore fly in fly out delivery.

  • Lead and innovate in curriculum design, teaching methods, and assessment moderation, ensuring continuous quality improvement.

  • Develop and lead high-impact research works in photonic information processing, quantum photonics, and related areas, securing research funding and producing impactful outputs.

  • Provide academic leadership, mentoring academic staff and supervising higher degree research candidates.

  • Attract and secure external funding, manage funded research projects, and build collaborative networks with industry, academia, and global partners.

  • Assume responsibilities for academic leadership roles, potentially including program coordination and strategic development initiatives.

About You

To be successful for the Level C Senior Lecturer appointment, you will have:

  • Demonstrated expertise in coordinating and teaching large courses in electronic, and communication engineering.

  • Experience preparing and delivering high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

  • An emerging nationally recognised research profile with high-quality publications and demonstrated ability to attract research funding, in the field of photonic information processing and/or quantum photonics and related areas

  • Proven experience in research leadership, including supervision of higher degree research candidates.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective engagement with internal and external stakeholders.

To be successful for the Level D Associate Professor appointment, you will additionally demonstrate:

  • Extensive academic leadership experience, including management of significant academic programs, and teaching electronic and communication engineering subjects.

  • Nationally and internationally recognised research achievements and substantial research outputs, specifically in the field of photonic information processing and/or quantum photonics and related areas

  • Demonstrated ability to attract substantial external research funding and successfully manage complex research projects.

  • Proven track record of mentoring academic staff and managing academic teams.

Qualifications

Mandatory for Level C and Level D appointment: PhD in Electrical, Electronic Engineering, or a closely related field.

The Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering is one of the largest and most distinguished departments at the university, recognised for excellence in research and innovation. Our graduates are highly regarded by the industry for having extensive hands-on experience and practical knowledge delivered through our teaching programs using a vast range of state-of-the-art laboratory facilities.
