We have an opportunity for a safety focused leader to join our Gladstone operations as the Team Leader Mechanical and have responsibility for mechanical maintenance across the site.
The focus of your role will be to support and manage the mechanical tradespeople to deliver the weekly maintenance plan safely, on time and to a high standard. You will use your technical skills to identify opportunities for improvement and cost savings, making a strong contribution to the reliability of the plant. Your ability to engage with your team and support them to achieve plant performance goals will make a difference not only to your direct reports but to the entire site.
Your Opportunity
- Lead and take part in Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) training, communication sessions and toolbox talks, ensuring that SHE is the first consideration in maintenance activities
- Supporting plant shutdowns throughout the year
- Ensure JSEA's are correctly completed, and safety observations are undertaken frequently and mentor/coach team members where necessary.
- Manage day to day work responsibilities for site mechanical workers
- Ensure that plant equipment is inspected and maintained to an appropriate level to achieve budgeted plant performance KPI’s
- Identify possible cost reductions in areas of control
- Improve plant reliability performance towards long term targets by ensuring a high quality of work is constantly performed
- Provide support and resources for plant breakdowns
- Provide input to planners so that they can develop and deliver the weekly plan
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and maximise value of maintenance spend
- Identify areas of improvement for direct reports, including apprentice mentoring, development and TAFE performance
- Organise cost effective training, coaching and communications to meet the identified needs of the team
What You’ll Bring
- Trade qualification
- Maintenance leadership experience in the manufacturing or mining industry
- Strong safety focus and the ability to influence a positive safety culture
- Excellent leadership skills
- A good understanding of cost reduction and budgeting
- Proficient with SAP and other programs e.g. Microsoft Office
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability and willingness to be on call
